The competition of the market in the future will be the competition between the core competences. With the economy globalizing and China entering the WTO, the competitions between the countries are mainly in the person of the competitions between the enterprises, however, the competitions between the enterprises are the exhibition of the core competence. How to foster the core competence will become the focus of our government and enterprises.At first, the paper set forth the core competence and its cultivation in the light of the research actuality of core competence. In 1990 the core competence was brought forward by Prahalad and Hamel, the America stratagem managed specialist. The core competence was defined the accumulated knowledge of the enterprises, especially the knowledge about how to assort with the different produced skills and conformity many technologies, which can gain the unusual competence surpassing the other competitive rivals. That is to say, the core competence was the reflection of the integrated advantages about the corporations' mentality, technology, production, management and the culture in the marketing, and set up the basis of the core resource. The cultivation of the core competence mainly embodied in the eight aspects: fostering the human capital, cultivating the core techno-competence, establishing the distinctive administrated mode, pursuing excellence and having the courage to innovation, paying attention to good faith and fostering the brand, cultivating the advanced corporation culture, and some positive measures framed by the government. The paper also indicated that the cultivation of the core competence was a strategically cooperated program. At last the paper acted the Guohua Corporation as a demonstrated research in order to prove that the reason of Guohua development is fostering thecore competence.
