Collaboration between multiple organizations and companies is becoming commonplace for the design and manufacture of large, complex, mechanical systems. These systems include such things as airframes, automobiles and ships. Industrial Enterprise Alliance is a term used to describe such collaborations. An Industrial Enterprise Alliance allows its member organizations to respond collectively to favorable market conditions for new product development in situations where the members individually would be unable to respond effectively. As part of the collaboration, the members of a Industrial Enterprise Alliance share their expertise, software tools, and product data with other members in the Industrial Enterprise Alliance. This sharing of resources provides a competitive advantage for the Industrial Enterprise Alliance that justifies its existence. Flexible management of the shared resources is an important requirement for the Industrial Enterprise Alliance to achieve its full potential. Otherwise, the effectiveness of the collaboration diminishes greatly. An information infrastructure is one way for an Industrial Enterprise Alliance to provide the required management of its resources.Relied on the Natural Science Foundation of China- "A study on the key problem of orient-industry enterprise informationalization" (NO.59975079) and the Science Foundation of Aerospace- "The Research on Distributed Cooperative Development of product" , This paper concentrates on managing hydraulic product data in an information infrastructure for a Industrial Enterprise Alliance. The primary contents are summarized as follows:Based on STEP standard, a method to construct common auto-part product information model is discussed. The IDEFO and IDEF1 diagrams are analyzed to enlighten the sharing of the resources of Industrial Enterprise Alliance. The implementation method for common auto-part product model is constructed based on ST-Developer.Based on the analysis of the characteristics of hydraulic cylinder and the theory of product characteristic model, this paper constructed the function model and the knowledge information model of hydraulic cylinder product. Using the ST-developer, we implemented of the hydraulic cylinder STEP model.This paper concentrates on managing product data in an information infrastructure for an Industrial Enterprise Alliance. The definition and the implementation way of a fundamental set of STEP services for the information structure of a Industrial Enterprise Alliance is finished.
