The Analysis, Based On The Evaluation Method Of The Ahp City Competitiveness And Its Application To Taiwan City

The time of urban competitiveness has arrived. The importance of the study of urban competitiveness lies at two aspects: Firstly, with the increasing economy globalization, the competition among cities is becoming more and more furious, which has endowed the study of urban competitiveness significant meaning; Secondly, the competition among the China cities is becoming more and more drastic. As China has entered WTO, the study of China urban competitiveness also has magnificent sense. The main purpose of the study of urban competitiveness is to find the crucial factors influencing it and its change tendency, so as to summarize the way of increasing urban competitiveness to make the urban development strategy. Now the study of urban competitiveness abroad is comparatively embedded, while it is still a new problem in China.This paper has simplified Analysis Hierarchy Process proposed by Professor Saaty. T.L. of Pittsburgh University of America to the analysis of urban competitiveness. Based on 25 original and creating statistical indexes such as urban economical power, urban capital power, marketing development situation and benefit, person with ability and science and technology level, opening degree, facilities and service establishment, government administrate level and so on, an index system and evaluating model on the assessment of urban competitiveness has been developed. Illustrated with Taizhou, a city recently joining the Yangtze River delta, this paper analyzes its urban competitiveness by means of transverse comparison. We can discover the merits and demerits of Taizhou by transverse comparison among the urban competitiveness of the 11 cities of Zhejiang Province. The paper then provides proofs and supports of advancing the methods of improving urban competitiveness of Taizhou.The paper is arranged as follows. Chapter One concisely introduces the connotation and characteristics of urban competitiveness. Chapter Two focuses on the basic idea, basic process, advantage and disadvantages and applied fields of AHP, especially emphasizing on the key points of the simple applying of AHP in this paper.Chapter Three and Four are the keystone of this paper. Chapter Three mainly introduces the assessment method of urban competitiveness and an evaluating model has been constructed in this chapter. Taking Taizhou as an instant, Chapter Four analyzes its urban competitiveness in the way of transverse comparison , so as to provides proofs and supports of advancing the methods of improving urban competitiveness of Taizhou.Grounding on the above stated chapters, Chapter Five puts forward the way of improving urban competitiveness of Taizhou and the ideology to increase urban competitiveness of medium level areas-regional economies integrity. Meanwhile, the proposals of Taizhou melting into the regional economies integrity of the Yangtze River delta have also been put forward.
