With the development of economy, the demand for natural resources of human society is increasing rapidly. But the exploitable natural resources on the earth, especially those can't be regenerated, increase at a very slow speed. Having been exploited for over 100 years, many important natural resources are to be exhausted. After these natural resources are exploited, they become waste or rubbish at last. As a result, there forms a liner economy pattern of "resource-product-waste" in human society. With the development of production and consumption of human society, the waste piles up increasingly and occupies plenty of land. Furthermore, there may be some poisons which endanger the environment and the human health. In China, this condition is more severe. Its natural resource per capita is much less than that of the word. Because of a large population and its low-level productive technology, waste of natural resource is serious and only a small percentage of waste is reclaimed. Resource exhaustion and environmental pollution are obstacles and bottlenecks of economy sustainable development and badly endanger the environment and the health of the public in China. In recent years, China government has taken active measures in lawmaking on environmental protection on the basis of foreign experience and impelled enterprises to extend its responsibility and develop reverse logistics.Furthermore, in order to survive the competition and enlarge its market share, some firms take measures such as liberal return policy, to enhance its competence. It proved to be effective in enlarging market share and increasing its sale and at the same time it results in a great deal of returns. Under this condition, these firms have to strengthen reverse logistics management and meet the challenge of the returns.Firstly, the thesis introduces some basic knowledge of reverse logistics and its development at home and abroad in brief. Then it analyzes the essentialityof reverse logistics and its importance to enterprise. Secondly, the thesis analyzes three basic operational patterns of reverse logistics for enterprise: self-support, joint venture and outsourcing. In order to select the optimum operational pattern of reverse logistics, the thesis studies some main factors that those enterprises need to consider: investment, profit, cost, techniques required in reverse logistics especially in regeneration, ability of managing different operational patterns of reverse logistics in facility & equipment, human resource & communication, information etc. On the basis of above analysis and with the combination of theory and case, the thesis presents the selection of operational pattern of reverse logistics by Analytical Hierar-chy Process (AHP), and puts forward some suggestions on reverse logistics management for reference to selection and management of operational pattern of reverse logistics.Fan Jianghua(Business Management) Directed by associate professor Gu Yazhu...
