Weichai Logistics Development Strategy

Modern logistics has been thought for the third source of profit, which has been emphasized from all levels of leaders and government of every country, and people of all circles over the world.It has been predicted by numerous politicians, enterprises, economists and logistics experts that the 21th century's China will become the world manufacturing, finance and commerce centre, and the world centre of logistics therefore. Manufacturing logistics has composed of the main aspect of logistics in China. Enterprises' internal logistics transformation projects have come to their climax. In some manufacturing and trade enterprises, logistics hasn't been pained so much attention like that of today's. On one hand, some measures have been adopted to enforce logistics project transformation such as reforming internal working procedure, improving information management, adopting advanced equipments and managing technologies. On the other hand, some enterprises are looking for their strategy cooperation partners and building supply chain to raise their competitiveness.In this paper, some means of research are adopted, such as investigation, academic study and consulting the experts, etc. The current logistics system and logistics developing strategy of WeiChai are studied in detail, some measures and suggestions are proposed to increase WeiChai's logistics development. This research holds the point that logistics of WeiChai has the particularity combined with traditional logistics and Third Party Logistics. Although the current distribution mode of WeiChai has been reformed better than ever, it also has some problems: the equipment of logistics system can't adapt to management of logistics; the level of automation and information is low, etc. From true development, the existing logistics level can't adapt to the developing strategy of the company. Some new means of logistics development strategy must be found.This paper is divided into five chapters. First, the writer will introduce the task'sbackground. Then, based on the exploration of the implication of logistics, the basic characteristics of modem logistics are summed up. Some gaps and the relevant reasons are pointed out by comparing the logistics industry in China with other countries. Secondly, Third Party Logistics is introduced , the mechanism of TPL development is probed through the core competitiveness theory. Finally, in accordance with the reality of WeiChai, the paper points out the way and strategy of it in the future.
