As china's market-economics systems reform deep-going, the need for professional managers become increasing rapidly, what is the competency of professional managers have became the crux of choosing, cultivate & incentive them by enterprises.So far, the study on competency is focus on general managers, and involved in professional managers very less.In this paper, on the basis of analysis manager's competency research fruit from abroad and home, integrating firsthand interview file from managers, the writer compiles a questionnaire. Then a large-scale investigation has been held among enterprise's managers. Many kinds of statistic tools have been applied to analyze the related data, and explore the required competency for professional manager.The following are our research finding, the senior professional manager's competency feature includes such factors: strategy manage, team manage, positive self-consciousness, leader skill, analysis thinking, self manage, achievement-needing, market mentality and build relative network; the junior professional manager's competency feature include such factors: specialization manage, team manage, custom manage, leader and achievement mentality, positive self-consciousness, analysis thinking, concerning details and order, supervise and cultivate subordinate. Furthermore, this finding distinguishes from others similar research results after compared each other.The main innovations in this thesis show below:First, a clear conception of professional manager is defined by writer based on the analysis of the typical views.Secondly, the competency structure including senior managers & junior managers was demonstrated through concrete evidence study.Thirdly, many kinds of analysis means was adopt in this thesis, which aimed to summary the key factors and the competency structure.All of them are very important for enterprises to choose and cultivate professional managers.
