Along with the development of villager autonomy system of our country, it has gradually been attracting the attention of personages at home and abroad. More and more writings on this subject are published, whose contents include every aspects of villager autonomy and involve political science, sociology, economics, history, management, the science of law and other domains. However, most of these researches, including law scholars' researches, are aimed at the autonomy system, but not the autonomy. Setting "villagers' autonomy" as the focus of attention, this article analyzes its attributes and characteristics and their contributing factors, compares it with other types of autonomy of our country, points out two obstacles to its further development and puts forward the resolution.Part One is about the definition of villagers' autonomy. The concept of villagers' autonomy involves the understanding of "villager", "autonomy" and villager autonomy's nature. After putting forward a reasonable standard of villager qualifications which is controversial and making a thoroughgoing analysis of villager autonomy's attribute, the author advances that villagers' autonomy is villagers' right of autonomy and autonomous power, by which villagers can deal with affairs in the village concerned with their interests according to law through villager autonomy organization.Part Two expounds the characteristics of villagers' autonomy of our country. This part is the emphasis of the article and is the basis of the ensuing parts' discussion. Villagers' autonomy has some unique characteristics, such as right-power dual attribute, complexity of benefit groups, absoluteness of regional effectiveness, finiteness of its binding force and so on. In the final analysis, the characteristics of villagers' autonomy are decided by its nature and are the reflections of its nature under the joint influences of systematic, cultural, historical and modern factors.Part Three makes a comparison of villagers' autonomy and other types of...
