Participatory Approach, as a methodology to work, is applied in many international developing programmes in terms of planning and implementation. It is also a preferred way of training, teaching and discussing. Although it has become increasingly popular in the area of development and education, it is seldom applied in corporate staff and civil service training. This study is of particular importance by looking into both its learning theories and practicability in order to explore its general model and the possible value to the other two sectors: government and enterprises. Andragogy and action learning theories are the fundamental of participatory training.This empirical study looks at on participatory trainings in Chinese NPOs. It highlights the participatory training model including the main procedures and the way of participation, and extend how participants can participate in different stages of a training. It particularly focuses on the role of trainer and participants, the components to construct a participant-centred, supportive learning environment, as well as its adaptability in Chinese cultural context. This model clarifies the prospective that participatory approached is applied in corporate and government training. Finally, this study introduces the training of participatory trainers and limitations of participatory training.
