Ecological migration is an economic act as a result of an adjustment of people's life style due to the deterioration of ecological environment. Urbanization, in short, is a process of people's way of life changing from rural to urban lifestyle. Both of them in changing people's way of life have a certain degree of convergence, especially the non-agricultural migration and the town extending migration are in fact processes of urbanization. Therefore, the research on current urbanization of the ecological migration has become very necessary. Taking the ecological migrants in Qipanjing township, Otog Banner for example, this paper conducted a study of urbanization from the angle of migrants' mode of production and way of life by adopting the social change theory and the theory of urbanization. The migrants in Qipanjing township are migrants who have changed from rural residents to urban residents and the town expanding migrants. Since the relocation, migrants' mode of production and way of life have been changed. Any form of eco-migrations will inevitably lead to the change of people's way of production, life-styles, but why can we say that the migrants in Qipanjing are ongoing urbanization? What is the difference between the migrants in Qipanjing and those in other places? This paper intends to illustrate that the process of eco-migration is also a process of urbanization mainly from the aspect of people's mode of production and way of life and that it is different from the migrants in other places.Changes of the migrants' mode of production and way of life are reflected as follows: leading industries shifted to secondary and tertiary industries from the primary industry; the income-based secondary and tertiary industries has become the main elements in the revenue and expenditure structure instead of the agriculture and animal husbandry; work schedule is no longer the same as the pastoral areas, where more companies are subject to the companies they belong to. Changes in the way of life mainly reflected in changes in material and spiritual life. Changes in material life are mainly embodied in clothing, food, housing, transportation and consumption structure; the spiritual changes are mainly manifested in the religious beliefs of migrants, customs, leisure and entertainment, social interaction and other aspects. On the basis of a study on the migrants' mode of production and lifestyles in Qipanjing, this paper also analyzed the Town board of the driving force of urbanization and the relationship between the migrants who have changed from rural residents to urban residents and urbanization and compared the town expanding migrants with the migrants in other villages. Through these analyses, I found that when immigrants have lost all means of subsistence of production and enter into Qipanjing, they have to be involved into the process of urbanization in order to survive the new environment. Namely, the process of implementation of eco-migrants is a process of migration urbanization. At the same time, migrants gathered in Qipanjing have had a population effect and promote the town's economic development, so we can say that the ecological urban migration in Qipanjing and its economic development bring out the best in each other. In Qipanjing, the eco-migration and urbanization development are combined together, which has not only promoted economic development and urbanization, but has also achieved the purpose of the ecological migration. In the meantime, it has provided a new way of thinking for the implementation of the eco-migration project, which we may call it "Qipanjing mode". Further studies should be worthy of carrying on in the future.
