Based On The Government Of The New Public Management Perspective, Knowledge Management Research

In the background of knowledge based economy, knowledge management As one of the advanced management ideas and methods, has increasingly become a popular topic and has greatly impacted organizational management. Therefore, it is necessary for the government, the integrated social organization, to apply knowledge management into their administrative practice to face new challenges.This paper attempts to analyze government knowledge management in the point of view of the new public management. After an extensive and systematic research on new public management and mental knowledge management, this paper will discuss the impact from new public management on government knowledge management and will point out certain deficiencies in our government's current knowledge management due to the internal contradictions between an information society and a bureaucratic government. Furthermore, this paper will propose some strategies for the government to execute, under the guidance of new public management theory, including introduction of corporate experience, decentralized management on knowledge sharing, formation of administrative culture for government knowledge management, emphasis on tacit knowledge sharing and establishment of a learning government. Finally, this paper will discuss the design concepts and principles of a learning-oriented government knowledge management system.
