Expression And Influence Of The Interests Of Migrant Workers Study Of The Factors

Interest Expression of the peasant-workers is not just a problem of resource allocation, or an action for the rights. Behind this, it reflected the grim reality of the increasingly losses of the common people who at the social bottom and the lack of interest expression mechanism. And even more, it implied the political aspirations of the lowest rung social groups in China for "citizenship".This paper holds that different social strata have different interest demands, and different peasant-workers have different politics. From the present findings, the existing studies on peasant-workers thinking still remains on the stage of "empowerment" model, but the lack of the subjectivity of the peasant-workers'interest expression and the concern of "citizenship".This thesis disassembles the interest expression for the following four aspects:the daily expression of interests within the system operation, activism within the system, the daily expression of interests and the action of activism out of the system. And through the empirical research methods, it analysis the relevant factors affecting interests express of peasant-workers conduct from the four variables which are individual characteristics, socio-economic status, social identity and social network.The data analysis shows that the current interest expression of migrant workers is lower, and the interest demands that primarily focuses on labor remuneration, their children's education and the working environment. Meanwhile, the interest expression of the migrant workers acts mainly as the interest expression within the system operations and the expression path changes from the informal to formal, institutional transformation to the outside of the system within the upgrade process based on the performance of context.This paper argues that the peasants-workers with high education level, high monthly income, high trust in political institutions, age between 40 and 51 years old, a wide range contacts and high prestige tend to interest express more. Age, political institutions, the scope of trust and the social circles of migrant workers have significant effect on whether to take action of interest expression within the system.With the emergence of the new generation of farmers, to seek identity has become an important interest demands. Social identity and social capital are significant for peasants-workers reconstruction.
