Normal university graduates will inevitably experience the process of role transformation. It means that new teachers will experience an adaption stage. During this stage, most of the new teachers are able to overcome the difficulties of adaption stage and become key teachers even excellent teachers under the guidance of school leaders and senior teachers. However, some new teachers could not adapt to the change from a single student to a multiple-role teacher, so their teaching work and personal lives are affected. Some of them even have to give up teaching profession and change their profession because they could not get through the difficulties in this stage. During the adaption stage, new teachers will face so many adaption problems, such as classroom teaching, class management, interpersonal environment and so on. And the degree of adaptation to classroom teaching will have profound consequences to new teachers'teaching attitudes, the quality of teaching and students'study in middle school. This research is carried out on the adaption problems of new teachers.The author whose undergraduate major was Geography finds that the Geography graduates always experience all sorts of difficulties at the beginning of teaching work,by contacting with the graduates who engage in middle school geography teaching and reflecting on the past two teaching practice. After that, the author deeply lost in thought about how can the geography graduates adapt to teaching work, what are the main factors that affect the professional development of new geography teachers, and in which way can promote the professional development of the new geography teachers. On these issues, the author designed a questionnaire and interviewed some Geography graduates and school managers on the basis of reading lots of literatures. This study reveals the situation of new geography teachers'classroom teaching, the problems of the new geography teachers during the adaption stage. It aims at proposing the strategies and approaches to promote the professional development of new geography teachers.According to the statistical result of the data provided by the questionnaires and interviews, the results gained in this thesis as follows:1. The new geography teachers can complete basic teaching tasks and adapt to the geographic classroom teaching, but there still exists some adaption problems. It is especially difficult for them to establish three-dimensional teaching objectives, to use learning-based teaching methods, and to arouse the enthusiasm of the students in class.2. The professional quality of teachers is the key factor for new geography teachers in the adaption stage. No matter they are pre-service graduates or in-service middle school teachers, the new geography teachers should improve their professional quality and give full play to the initiative and great creativity so as to improve their teaching ability to adapt to teaching.3. In order to promote the adaption of the new geography teachers, the local education department, middle school and normal university should be cooperative and carry out more trainings for them.This thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter one is the introduction part which introduces the background, purpose, significance, methodology and the technical route of this research. Chapter two is the review of the research at home and abroad, as well as the definition of concept. Chapter three is the design and process of the research. It includes selecting samples, using research tools and the process of implemention. Chapter four is the research result and reason analysis. According to the statistical result of the data provided by the questionnaires and interviews, it reveals the relationship of each element in new geography teachers' classroom teaching and finds out the adaption problems. Chapter five is the strategies and suggestions respectively for the new geography teachers, middle school management, normal university and educational department. Chapter six contains the conclusions, assessment and prospect of this thesis.
