China’s higher education has been faced with enormous pressure and challenge, which focus on how to promote graduates’ full employment in the context of global economic integration and rapid knowledge-upgrading and innovation. Employment concerns not only students’ growth and success, colleges’ survival and development and families’ future and prospect but also social stability and harmony.After expanding for nearly20years, higher vocational education has accounted for almost half of share in China’s higher education, and then the employment of students of higher vocational college has become an important social issue concerning national welfare and people’s livelihood. With rapid economic development and growing national overall strength, MICE, as a way of demonstrating national strength and boosting economic and trade development, has become a new highlight and plays an important role in China’s economy. In such bright trade prospect, the specialty of MICE was born in Tianjin higher vocational college and is growing rapidly. However, the graduates face many problems and challenges.This paper summarizes the employment situations of students majoring in MICE in higher vocational college in Tianjin and analyses the statistics on the employment situation of graduates from three grades in TEDA Polytechnic, and draws a conclusion that the students majoring MICE have difficulties in employment and fail to find a job related to their major.The reasons are various, including inner factors, such as graduates’overall quality and improper career orientation, and external factors, such as unreasonable teaching model, a lack of standardization in MICE industry and deficiency in governmental functions.In terms of the reasons mentioned above, this paper put forward related solutions and suggestions. First, students should adjust their views on employment and prepare their psychology to be engaged in job; second, the companies and institutions in MICE industry need to upgrade specialization level, standardize management, expand trade scale and enhance self-regulation. This paper highlights that higher vocational colleges are supposed to deepen teaching reform tirelessly, draw up enrollment plan scientifically and critically, specify talent training orientation, plan training model rationally, adjust curriculum provision and strengthen hardware construction on campus. Moreover, government are expected to take macro-management measures to accelerate MICE industry upgrading, perfect related laws and regulations to protect graduates’access to employment and create more jobs for graduates through support on base of policy and funds.
