Mathematical expression is an tool for students to acquire mathematical knowledge and ability and also is an important criterion for teachers to assess students’mathematical ability and level. The ability of mathematical expression is an ability that students are able to explain mathematical questions by methods of mathematical language. Nowadays, the ability of mathematical expression of primary students is not good, there are some problems, such as:the modes of primary students’ mathematical expression tend to be fixed; girls are unlikely to express in mathematical class; students lack professional mathematical language when they express mathemaical questions; students have writing problems. At the same time, the status quo of the procession of teaching which aim to improve the ability of students’mathematical expression is not good as well. In the process of teaching, there is false appearance; Teachers are not likely to demonstrate for students in mathematical class; It is difficult for teachers in keeping classroom discipline in mathematical class. Therefore, it is important to study the status quo of primary students mathematical expression and the procession of teaching aiming to improve students’ ability of mathematical expression.This paper studied the status quo of primary students’ ability of mathmatical expression through the questionnaire survey and interview methods, analyesed the questions which emerged when primary students expressed mathmatically and put forward some strategies of training primary students’ ability of mathematical expression combining with interviewing some primary mathmatics teachers.
