This research discusses the3?6year old children’s painting performance abilitywith the help of literature review, observations, interviews and works analysis. Theresearch mainly ofcuses on the development of children’s painting perofrmance abilityof different ages, and the influence of different gender and area on the children’spainting performance ability. In this study, by referring to LowenfeId’s book licreationand the growth of the mind”,the author sets the analytical framework developingchildren’s painting perofrmance ability, chooses theme paintings such as "/wasoutside playing with a balV\“busy street” and rfee themes, and encourages thechildren’s rfee play. Atfer collections of the children’s works, the author discusses andcjq?lores the development of the children’s painting performance ability.The results of the study shows that the painting forms of the children present agrowing complexity as the increasing ages of children There is a significantdifTerence in the themes,colors,ifgures, scenes and spaces of paintings performed bychildren of different ages. This also reflects the cognitive level of little children in acertain extent. Although different criteria give different divisions of ’childrenspainting developmental stages, it is ofr sure that the developmental sequence of thechildren’s painting is the same. In additbn, differences in gender and area alsoproduce certain efTecl on the childre’ns painting perofrmance ability.This study, in the end, proposes educational suggestions about how to improve children’s painting ability.
