Study On The Participation Of Rural Primary School Parents' Committee In School Education Management

With deepening educative reforms, the importance of parents’ participation in the management of school education has become a focus problem of China’s educators, while parent committee is one of main ways for parents’ participation in the management of school education.However, the current situation of parents’ participation in the management of school education is worrying. For one thing, many schools do not set up parent committee; for another, although there is a parent committee, it becomes a mere formality; that’s to say, it has not played the role for parents communicate with schools and supervise the development of schools. I have been in a rural primary school having parent committee; however, its participation in the management of school education is in a dilemma. Therefore, it is the focus of the author to study the existing problems of parent committee’s participation in management of school education in rural primary schools.First, based on literature review, the author makes a theoretical explanation for the concept, essence, responsibilities and historical development of parent committee. Second, by means of questionnaire survey and interviews in ten rural primary schools in Jintan city, the author makes an in-depth analysis on existing problems and reasons for parent committee’s participation in management of school education in rural primary schools; third, the author puts forward basic countermeasures for those problems.In this paper, it is believed that the major problems existing in parent committee’s participation in management of school education in rural primary schools are as follows: biased understanding about parent committee; defective construction of parent committee; mere formality of parent committee as well as the failure to play the role. Thus, in accordance with actual situation of parent committee in rural primary schools, the author points out that it is necessary to change ideas and enhance the promotion of rural parent committee; strengthen the organization and management as well as improve the mechanism construction of rural parent committee; Based on the featured activities, ensure rural parent committee is given full play.
