Historical geography knowledge is about the changes of human geography environment, and the relationship between environment and human and the development of human society in historical period, its core is the knowledge of the relationship between human and geography. In Ordinary high school history curriculum standard (experiment), high school history curriculum is defined as such:ordinary high school history curriculum is a foundation course, which interprets human history development process and regularity from the perspective of historical materialism, further develop and improve the students’ historical consciousness, cultural quality and humanistic quality, promote the all-round development of students. In middle school history teaching, historical geography knowledge is more or less involved in the background, development factors, and the conditions of historical events. In addition, historical geography knowledge is always adopted to exam students’history knowledge in college entrance exam and simulation exam in previous years, and which shows a tendency of increase of proportion year by year. Moreover, the new curriculum reform points out that teachers should understand the knowledge related to the subject. Above all, we should pay more attention to historical geography. It has great help to strengthen students’awareness of time and space and reality, to cultivate the students’humanistic quality, and to improve the student’s history thinking ability. Therefore, in history teaching, teachers should have a strong concept of time and space, and use historical geography knowledge flexibly in imparting history and telling historical events, to make history teaching vivid, lively, and easier to understand and accept for the students.In this paper, the author, I, combined with my own knowledge and experience, puts forward my own opinion on the strengthen of using historical geography in the middle school history teaching on the basis of the studies of predecessor scholars.This thesis consists of four parts:I. Introduction:Explain the origin, significance and the research status of the subject. II. Introduce the meanings and characteristics of historical geography, discuss the relationship between historical geography and middle school history teaching, clarify the role of historical geography in middle school history teaching, and analyze the necessity of strengthening historical geography in middle school history teaching. III. Comb the historical geography knowledge which needs to be strengthened in middle school history teaching. This part can help teachers clarify the historical geography knowledge involved in teaching. IV. The strategies of strength historical geography knowledge in middle school history teaching towards middle school teachers, so as to help students master knowledge, enhance the historical consciousness of time and space and reality, cultivate humanistic quality, enhance the historical thinking ability, to reflect the actual application value of this study.
