In this study,557students included531rural junior high school students and26urban junior high school students, who are living in Yancheng city Jiangsu province, were taken as the object. Questionnaire and Case Study were used with the Middle School Student Mental Health Scale complied by Wang Jisheng, the Self-consistency and Congruence Scale(SCCS) by Wang Dengfeng, and the Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS) by Xiao Shuiyuan to analysis and understand the students’ mental health, self-consistency and the level of social support, and to explore the predictive role of self-consistency, social support toward mental health problems. Combined with case study to explore the mental health intervention way in rural middle school students, and then to make relevant recommendations for the development of rural mental health education. The results of our research are as following:1, There is exit a prominent mental health problems in9.87%rural junior high school students. There are no significant differences in the total score of mental health between boys and girls. So it as the grade, family structure. But, with the score decreasing, the mental health problems of rural high junior students tend to serious. The students who have the higher score have the high lever of the mental health. With the level of education of his father is higher, his mental health is better.2, The self-consistency level of the rural junior high school students was fine, but there is a certain number of students have difficult in self-consistency.3, Social support of the rural junior high school students is at the middle level, which need to be improved.4, The self-consistency level is very significant negatively related to the total average score of the mental health.5, The social support is very significant negatively related to the total average score of the mental health.6, Self-consistency and social support can predict the level of mental health of the rural junior high school students, with the explain rate in20.5%.7, Social support and self-consistency level can be changed with psychological counseling, with the level of social support and self-consistency improved, the rural junior high school students’ mental health problems can be reduced.Finally, based on quantitative research and case study, the research puts forward some recommendations to improve the present situation of mental health and increase the level of the mental health of the rural junior high school students.
