Basic education has always been the focus of our nation and the world, while primaryschool is the key of the basic education. The elementary student’s character development isthe focus of the society from all walks of the life. The21stcentury,“peace and development”is the two themes of the world. With the rapid development of science and technology, thecommunication and trade between countries is frequent, in order to make the new generationhave a brighter future in our own country as well as foreign countries, the new generationshould learn to live together under the background of globalization, it is on the premise ofrespect and learn to respect others, respect the foreign culture, because only respect caninclusive,only tolerance can go beyond. So what the elementary concept of the respectis,what factors cause the present situation of elementary concept of respect,how to improvethe current situation, is an important issue that worth our thinking.This paper mainly adopts the literature and questionnaire survey. This thesis researchframework is that:The first chapter: Literature review. The author collected the research data that related to thispaper from home and broad, and try to analyze the deficiency of previous research so that thispaper have a further research.The second chapter: the part of theoretical basis. Based on the topic of this paper as thedirection of moral education, and the object of study for primary school students who havethe character of not maturity, the author chose the theory of the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs,character education, moral development stage theory, children’s moral development view asthe theoretical basis of this paper, aimed at writing of this paper that is justified.The third chapter: the analysis of the survey results. The author divided the respect into fourdimensions according to the object: respect for parents, teachers, classmates and other people,to investigate elementary concept of respect. Through the investigation and analysis, schoolchildren’s concept of respect is increased with the rising of the grade; girls have ahigher respect for parents than boys; the other three dimensions only has differences in grade,gender differences do not exist; the elementary students have a lower level for respectingother people, which needs to be improved.The forth chapter: the analysis of the status. The author respectively analyze the status fromsociety, school, family, to find out the cause of respect for the status quo, make later suggestedthat part of the thesis writing more targeted.The fifth chapter: Suggestions. In order to make the schoolchildren’s concept of respect hasfurther improvement and improve, according to the analysis of the causes of the fourthchapter, the writer try to from society, school, family, these three aspects are given somefeasible suggestions. Hope for society, school, family provide certain help in terms of thequality of cultivating children respect, but also the hope is that this study caused by the socialpeople from all walks of life to respect for primary school students quality.
