Good education should guarantee the work quality of the teachers in the educationservice.Be concerned about the situation of the teachers’ in-service training andunderstand the needs in professional development is the top focus in teachers’professional development and personal growth. In recent years, with the degree of socialconcern for the continuous improvement of special education, the re-training ofprofessional knowledge in special educational teacher gradually get more attention,teachers paid more attention to their own professional development. Todays mentallyretarded school has a complex students source and the courses are lack of nationalstandards for the grant program, which put forward higher requirements foe thementally retarded professionalism of teachers.Mentally retarded teacher in-servicetraining and professional development in all aspects need attention.The study choose serving special education teachers in Rixin mentally retarded inDalian for the study. The self-make question check list " mentally retarded teacherin-service training status and needs questionnaire " investigates on24teachers’ the-jobtraining situation. Combining with the self-make interview outline for in-depthinterviews, the study investigate the overall job training for school teachers andprofessional development which is designed to provide strategic guidance for theprofessional development of teachers in mentally retarded school, sign the direction formentally retarded in the teachers’professional development.
