Ability Construction Of College Counselors

After entry into the21st century, the new changes of the domestic and foreign environment about politics, economy and society brings great challenge to student work in colleges and also raised taller requirement to college counselors. Counselors’ original capacity already cannot completely adapt to the changing situation, we must constantly strengthen counselor ability construction to be adapted, this is the social development and the higher education reform need, and is also the counselors’own all-round development and the need of practical work.In this paper, we focus on how to improve the college counselors’ ability construction of the research and exploration on this problem. Songjiang University City counselors as investigation object, through a questionnaire survey to understand the counselors’ ability and construction present situation, as well as the current problems existing in the construction of counselors’ ability, and the causes of these problems are analyzed. At the same time, our instructors work in other countries and the management of college students affairs undertakes comparative study, looking for the experiences to promote our college counselors’ ability construction, and put forward countermeasure and proposal of how to advance the counselors’ ability construction, and form the preliminary research results.Through the investigation and analysis, the current main problems of college counselors’ ability construction are:running mechanism is not perfect enough, culture system to be sound, automatic force is weak. As the work in college students’ Ideological and political education of first-line college counselors, assuming an important duty of the education, the management and the service for the students, their capacity building related to the growth of students, school development and national stability and prosperity. Therefore, we should take positive and effective measures to strengthen the construction of college counselors’ ability:first to improve on Counselors’ ability construction emphasis; second to establish a long-term mechanism for the construction of college counselors’ ability; third to strengthen the self construction of college counselors’ ability.
