A Study On The Relationship Between General Self - Efficacy, Parental Rearing Pattern And Occupational Values ​​in Secondary Vocational School Students

Nowadays, the employment problem of college and vocational postgraduates isbecoming growingly severe.There are many reasons that can lead to the employmentproblems. A major cause of the employment problem is the wrong occupation valueorientation of the students. As a vocational school teacher, I have noticed the studentshave unrealistic pictures in their mind for their future work. So I do someinvestigations and researches on the students’ occupational value in order to adjusttheir thoughts to meet the the needs of society, the the job market and the demand ofemployment. What we can do is to help the postgraduates to find work fluently, anddo our best to benefit the vocational education development for our country.Based on all the above，this study consists of two parts：Part one: Research Summary of Occupational Value, General Self-efficacy, andParenting styles;Part two: Empirical Research This study is based on three investigation charts of584vocational school students. They are Occupational Value chart, GeneralSelf-efficacy chart and Parenting Style chart. The overall situation of secondaryvocational school students’ Occupational Values, General Self-efficacy and ParentingStyle and their differences in the variables of demography are analyzed by SPSSsoftware.The following is conclusions:(1) The occupational value toward developing and health caring is in a little highlevel, which toward reputation and status are slightly lower. There are substantialproportion of vocational students, whose occupational value are in a high level.(2) Gender, profession, school, grade, family income and other demographicvariables have significant effects on one or more dimensions of the Occupationalvalue.(3) General self-efficacy has significant correlating with each dimensions ofOccupational value, and has remarkable positive prediction uses on Occupational value;(4)Parenting styles are significant correlated with other three dimensions ofOccupational value except Health caring. Father’s Preference, Father’s Refusing andDenying, Father’s Punishment, Father’s Emotional Warmth and Understandingpredict positive roles on Occupational Value scores; Mother’s Favoritism, Father’sexcessive interference predict negative roles on Occupational Value scores.
