Gratitude is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. We praise the behaviorof helping people. In order to carry forward this virtue, on one hand, we hope thosewho have been helped be grateful and try to give back; on the other hand, those whohave helped people are not supposed to look for repaying, they should consider itsomething nature. Gratitude isn’t something people born with, instruction andeducation play an important role in the process of getting to be grateful. Vocationalcolleges are responsible for developing their students into builders and successors of asocialist harmonious society. While professional knowledge and skills are importantto students of vocational colleges, good moral character is even more indispensible.Gratitude plays an important role in the virtue of college students. A good manner ofgratitude is directly related to students’ attitude toward study, life, work and society. Itgreatly influences the formation of their outlook on life, world view and value. Thevirtue of gratitude benefits the fully development of students, the harmoniousdevelopment of vocational colleges, the scientific developments of higher educationand the fast, as well as, healthy development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.Given all the reasons listed above, it’s obvious that the education of gratitude shouldbe taken as an important part in higher education. The present China is at a crucialmoment of the transferred period. Education of gratitude has been neglected in a longtime, although it’s really crucial. The lack of gratitude in some vocational collegestudents is a negative side of social developing. Moreover, it also reveals the crisis ofbasic social moral. This essay takes Yunnan Energy Vocational and Technical College,where I work, as an example, and carries out a questionnaire survey involves400students. This essay “The Research of the Gratitude Education in VocationalColleges” aims at the meaning, the problems, the causes and the achievements ofmodern vocational colleges’ gratitude education. And try to give some policy adviceon how to enhance gratitude education in vocational colleges.Part one: The significance of gratitude education in higher vocational colleges isvery necessary. based on the results of questionnaires, and emphasize the importance of gratitude education in vocational colleges from several perspectives.Part two: History, current situation and effect of the gratitude education inYunnan Energy Vocational and Technical College.Part three: Problems of gratitude education in Yunnan Energy Vocational andTechnical College and causes that lead to those problems, from the perspectives ofschool and students.Part four: Feasible solutions to gratitude education in vocational colleges.Solutions from different aspects: classroom teaching, methods of gratitude education,teachers’ quality and so on.Gratitude education is an important part of moral education in vocationalcolleges. Gratitude education of vocational college students helps them recognize thefavors they have received and help them to develop the desire, as well as behaviors torepay to society. This would help improve students’ gratitude consciousness, enhancestudents’ gratitude feelings and put them into real act to fulfill personal and socialvalue. Therefore, gratitude education could improve students’ overall quality and leadthe whole society to pay attention to gratitude education.
