The adaptiveness issue of a grade-one student in the primary school means that s/he cannot adapt to the changes in study, socializing and living independently. As the cohesion of the preschool education and elementary education, grade one in the elementary school plays a crucial role in the students’ having personality, generating interest, forming the learning habit and developing psychological quality and exerts a significant influence on their growth. We must attach great importance to and handle the issue. With questionnaire investigation, interviews and classroom observation on the spot, the research investigates and analyzes the elementary school freshmen’ s adaptiveness, resulting problems and reasons and puts forward corresponding countermeasures to address the problems. The survey finds that the majority of the freshmen adapt to the new situation well, and that some need a longer adjustment period. They have no trouble adapting to study while doing just so so in socializing and rather poorly in daily life. Things improve over a period of practice and intervention. However, some pupils still have serious adjustment problems. The issue is caused by various factors. Firstly, the pupils are not mature enough physically, spiritually and cognitively to adapt to the new environment. Secondly, parents’ incorrect educational philosophy misguides them. Parents take little heed to the issue and lack the ability to help their children prevent and solve problems.Thirdly, there are some problems with the elementary school management system and setting up curricula, evaluation modes, teachers’ methodologies, realizing the seriousness of the issue, counseling and so on. In addition, no enough work has been done on the cohesion of the preschool education and elementary education. This study puts forward the corresponding countermeasures to solve these problems. First of all, parents have to guide their children well. Secondly, schools should create a good environment for the students. Thirdly, teachers should change their ideas, and know how to respond scientifically. Finally, kindergartens must take the initiative to do the preparatory work.
