With the deepening of higher education reform and the increasing demand for talents. Education statistics according to the ministry of education(2012), the national colleges and universities, by a total of 2442 students each year about 23.91 million people. On college students’ volleyball education and popularization, the sport is volleyball continue to mass foundation, cultural foundation of the world’s leading level, is the necessary means of increasing population of volleyball. Increased as the scale of enrollment expansion of colleges and universities, colleges and universities with reform, and teaching method reform is the basis of these reforms. This article from the perspective of "discussion-based teaching method" to the university public sports volleyball option class teaching method reform has made the tracking survey, experiment, analysis and comparison, it is concluded that this kind of teaching method and the difference between the traditional teaching method, puts forward the Suggestions and comments, and enrich the public sports in colleges and universities volleyball option class teaching method and means.Article usesthe literature material law, questionnaire investigation, interview method, the teaching experiment, mathematical statistics and other research methods, on the 2013 in Mudanjiang Normal University level 2 public sports volleyball option class experiment contrast and analysis, the following conclusions:First, the use of "discussion-based teaching method" can not only improve the students’ sports skill, can also improve the students’ interest in learning, cultivate and improve the enthusiasm of the students in the classroom, adapt to ability, competition ability, team cooperation ability and innovation ability.Second, "discussion-based teaching method can improve the effect of classroom teaching, the teacher in class, in order to put more effort to get to know students situation, familiar with the characteristics of students, play the advantages of students. Let every student get exercise, let each student’s needs are met.Third, "discussion-based teaching method" can help students set up the idea of lifelong sports and habits, learning and life of the fitness needs.Fourth, it is suggested that different options courses according to their actual situation of the specific implementation of "discussion-based teaching method", to pay attention to "discussion-based teaching method" in the process of implementing the scientific nature, strengthen monitoring and guidance, in the process of implementing the teaching mode of teaching effect is more prominent.
