With the raise of China’s both economic and international status, Chinese is becoming more and more popular in the global scope. In recent years, as the relationship between China and South Korea is increasingly close, the Chinese language teaching has been paid more and more attention in South Korea. Since 2012, on the basis of the 20 th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the China and South Korea, the culture exchange between the two countries is unprecedentedly active. Besides the volunteers of the Confucius Institute, many Chinese volunteer teachers of primary and secondary schools have been sent to South Korea. The volunteers directly face the status quo of Chinese teaching in South Korea primary and secondary schools and collect first-hand teaching materials.The author have been teaching Chinese in South Korea ordinary high school for one year and mastered the characteristics and unique problems of the learning strategies, state of mind and learning motivation of the students in this period. The existing research could not cover and solve the problems of Chinese vocabulary teaching in ordinary high school enough. On the basis of the author’s one year practical teaching experience in South Korea, the author analyzed the questionnaire and interview for52 CPIK Chinese volunteer teachers and collected the vocabulary errors which appeared in the examination paper and homework of the Chinese learners of South Korea ordinary high school. The paper intends to survey and analyze the current situation of Chinese vocabulary teaching in ordinary high school, discuss the problems of Chinese vocabulary teaching, explore Chinese vocabulary teaching methods which are effective and suitable for the Chinese learners of this period.The paper consists of four parts:The first part, expounds the reason and significance of the topic, the research status of this direction, and the research work in this paper, including the research questions, methods, theoretical source, corpus source and innovations.The second part, describes the questionnaire for CPIK teachers, including the objects, the content and the results.The third part, discusses the problems of Chinese vocabulary teaching in South Korea ordinary high school form three aspects, including teachers, students and social environment.The fourth part, makes suggestions for Chinese vocabulary teaching of ordinary high school in South Korea, including teaching principles and teaching methods.The author hopes to make the country specific theory of teaching Chinese as a second language more abundant through the research of the status quo of Chinese vocabulary teaching in South Korea high schools. And offer suggestions for the Chinese teachers in ordinary high schools in South Korea.
