The continually high-speed economic growth of thirty years in China since the reform and opening up has greatly improved people’s quality of life. However, the economic growth has mostly relied upon the resource-oriented economic development model, leading to the damage of the ecosystems in many regions, including the over-exploration of mineral resources, damage of forests, overuse and pollution of water resources, and over-emission and maltreatment of polluted air. Especially in recent years, environmental issues such as global warming, smog over major cities, pollution of water and soils, and the large quantities of city garbage have put a string on people’s living standard. Faced with these problems of stringent natural resources, ever more polluted environment, and deteriorating ecosystem, people have not slowed down the marching pace. This has become a great concern of the government as well as the citizens, and thus the urgent task of reconsidering the relationship between nature and the human being is put on their agenda.College education is responsible for the knowledge dissemination and cultural education of the students, i.e. their overall moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic development, and thus a way to nurture the future builder and successor of the socialist cause, a channel to improve the quality of the nation. The eighteenth CPC national congress advocated a scientific approach to build ecological civilization, and colleges answer to the calling of eco-civilization to take over the new task of ecological moral education. "A Study of the Ecological Morality of Contemporary College Students and Responding Educational Strategies" analyzes the current situation of ecological moral education of college students under the guide of Marxist ecological theory and proposes relevant strategies for reinforcing ecological moral education among college students. It consists of the following four parts. The first part, which is made up by Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, elaborates on the goal and significance of the research topic, conducts a review of the research results on ecological moral issues at home and abroad, and defines the concept of ecological morality etc. The theoretical basis for researching on college students’ecological moral education—Marxist ecological moralist theory-is also expounded.Part Two analyzes the present ecological moral problems of the college students, including incomplete ecological knowledge, weak ecological moral consciousness, and ecological moral decline, which are influenced by the social environment, traditional moral concepts, school education, family education etc.Part Three analyzes the existent problems in college students’ecological moral education, mainly because of lack of ecological moral atmosphere and an unsystematic scientific educational framework. The Fourth part proposes strategies to solve the problems in college students’ecological moral education:constructing a teaching system of ecological moral education, building correct ecological values, and nurturing ecological moral atmosphere in colleges.
