In terms of the ratio between sports teaching and content of health education, the arrangement between theories and practices, the difficulty of handling knowledge and skills, the construction of modules, the selection of the content of mental health education and social adoption education, description of the development of textbooks, designs of format, illustration and the column frame, sports textbooks in Taiwan are quite different from sports textbooks in Chinese mainland. This study focuses on the difference between junior middle school sports textbooks from Chinese mainland and Taiwan, exploring and comparing their organization structure, guided learning system, teaching contents and learning assistant system based on documents, the comparative study and text analysis. We reached the following conclusions: First of all, the overall objective of the junior sport course in Chinese mainland is to make students reaching a personal sports consciousness all his life; the overall objective of the junior sport course in Taiwan is to make students taking a healthy approach to life and having good health. Secondly, in the knsh textbook, the health related knowledge counts for 50% and the sports related knowledge counts for 50%, which indicate that students motor skills and health education are equally concerned. Thirdly, in the knsh textbook, the editor intended to dilute the focus on the teaching of competitive sports, incorporating more health related content. Fourthly, health related knowledge is different for each edition, a) "Diet and Health", in the textbook of People’s Education Press version, there are strong correlation in diet and exercise. In the knsh textbook, there is food consumption involved as well as food safety. b) "Interpersonal relationships and health", in the knsh textbook, the editor expands the students’ interpersonal relationship to the real world and the virtual world, c) "Sports injuries and preventive treatment", in the knsh textbook, the editor highlights that how to deal with emergency of sport injury. Fifthly, sports related knowledge is different for each edition, a) "track and field", in terms of the content of the project, the textbook of People’s Education Press version is more enriched; in terms of extracurricular activities, the knsh textbook pay more attention to the interactive. b) "ball game", in terms of skills teaching and practice, the knsh textbook is more knowledgeable on a wider range of topics. In terms of tactics, the content in the textbook of People’s Education Press version, which has appropriate breadth and depth, is suitable for students to practice. c) "Chinese martial arts and gymnastics", the content in the textbook of People’s Education Press version is more enriched, but the content in the knsh textbook is more practical. Sixthly, in terms of overall design of illustration, in the knsh textbook, the content of illustration is diverse and innovative, while the content of illustration is old theme and the form of illustration is single. Seventhly, in terms of columns, the information disagrees with the columns in both textbooks. The columns have a fixed position in the knsh textbook, while the columns position is not fixed in the textbook of People’s Education Press version, and contents of texts and columns are quite similar, leading to a condition that the columns have played no part in the textbook. Thus, in this study, we put forward the following six-point proposal in the junior middle school sports textbooks for Chinese mainland. First of all, we should appropriately increase the proportion of health related knowledge. secondly, in the part of sports knowledge, we should increase warm-up exercise to the related sports and tell the inspiring stories about sports stars and knowledge of the Olympic Movement to students, which can set the good examples for the students. We also should reduce the teaching content difficulty of gymnastics and martial arts according to the requirements of the students. Simplified symbols, lines, tactical diagrams are also needed. Thirdly, in the part of health knowledge, in order to make students to pay attention to a healthy diet and deepen their safety consciousness, we should introduce the teaching content, which is close to student life, including food safety and measures to deal with sports injuries. Fourthly, the number of illustrations should be increased, the content should be creative, the name of graph should be marked. Finally, we should remove the columns, which are inconsistent with the teaching information, and rearrange the type of columns.
