University Archives is the real historical records of the school development, is the crystallization of all the teachers and student practical experience and wisdom, is University culture and spiritual heritage, at the same time, it is also an important part of social information resources. With the implementation of the national informatization strategy, the social demands for university information are on the rise. It will become the inevitable trend of history that University Archives out of the gate, into the community, to provide comprehensive, multi-functional service for society. However, in China, due to the influence of traditional ideas and many other factors, problems exist in archives social service in university.The research is based upon the theory and practice of our university archives to provide social service. It takes Liaoning L University as the example, introduces the current situation of archives social service. It makes an analysis of the problems in archives social service of Liaoning L University, by using the method of data statistics, interviews. With a glimpse into the whole, standing under the perspective of public management, it analyzes the institutional reasons of the problems existed in the university archives social service. Finally, by drawing on foreign experience of social service, it makes some proposals on the improvement of archives social service: to Improve the relevant laws and regulations and formulate the reasonable system, to break the monopoly position of university archives, to introduce competition mechanisms, to open communication channels, to reference on social services, to strengthen social supervision.
