Nowadays students’ education has become a major issue of social concerns.In order to find a more suitable teaching method,China is trying to reform teaching mode and method, so that we can develop more talents to adapt to the social tide of the world.Teachers has learned some ideas from the practice of new curriculum reform and they all take a more flexible approach, which can disperse the students` thought and develop their creativity. At the same time,it has also produced some confusion, for example, activities in the class influence class schedule, how to set more effective students` activities, how to improve the efficiency of classroom teaching, how to let the students play a main role and improve the teaching quality, how to make the class lively and students` move and so on. A more effective classroom model can achieve the better high school geography classroom teaching effect and promote the reform in geography teaching.For many years, the author has researched the present status at home and abroad and has read and sorted many books and documents. At the same time,the author has learned several kinds of successful curriculum reform pattern and has gotten the teaching idea of several characteristic schools from Chinese curriculum reform of basic education information network. Taking the method used by the region where the author works as an example, a questionnaire survey was conducted among all the teachers of the region. The teachers has carried out a new teaching mode, that is,”guiding-learning-clearing-sublimating-checking” ‘. We call it the five-step teaching mode which means plan-guidance 、 students` mutual learning 、 teachers` helpful learning 、practice and consolidation、knowledge sublimation and testing. The five-step teaching mode is based on the absorption of advanced teaching mode and combine the guiding learning before class, cooperative learning in class, testing in class and consolidation after class. The article has three theoretical basis that is,the behavioral learning theory, constructivist learning theory and cognitive learning theory. By teaching geography in class by herself, the article introduces the establishment of the five-step teaching method. Through the case <the form of wind>, the article describes the concrete application in practice. By comparing the senior high school graduation exam results with the other three high schools in the region and analyzing the quantitative data it has illustrated the effect of the five-step teaching mode in improving the students` results. On the other hand, it also points out the shortcomings and the present problems and confusion.
