Sericulture is an important part of Wu culture, which has great value for students to gain experience of Chinese traditional culture and is beneficial to the formation of identity and pride of local traditional culture. We analyzed the students’needs for school-based curriculum, which has improved teachers’understanding of the curriculum consciousness and confusion in the development of school-based curriculum. On the basis of preliminary investigation, and combined with the local traditional culture resources, the needs of students and school situations, this study develops and practices the school-based curriculum of Sericulture in junior middle School. The curriculum development program mainly includes six steps:organizations, environmental analysis, curriculum design objectives, course content selection, implementation of the curriculum and course evaluation. This study explores a way in which school-based curriculum development is integrated with Comprehensive Practice curriculum. The curriculum content can be divided into three modules, a number of small topics, which respectively implement the curriculum and evaluate students in the fields of learning, social practice, team activities and teaching, etc. It can not only effectively reduce the burden on teachers and students in curriculum development, but also help the teachers and students to get a deep curriculum experience, and feel the charm of the school-based curriculum. The study results show that the School-based Curriculum of Sericulture in junior middle School has successfully met the three-dimensional objectives of the curriculum. Students are interested in learning the subject. They are able to focus on, inherit and carry forward the traditional culture. Their innovative spirits and practical abilities have been significantly improved, and their personality has been fully developed. As a useful supplement to the national curriculum, it builds a developmental platform of the interdisciplinary cooperation for the teachers, providing some practical experience of the school-based curriculum development for school in future.
