Geography is called the mother of science, which helps citizens with the right people view, right resource view, right environmental view and right development view, and guides people know and change the world. Geography class, especially the junior geography class plays a vital role when we first construct the geography knowledge system, which sets a complete geography knowledge foundation for people. However, in our country there is a phenomenon on geography education that junior middle students show less interest on geography, learn for grades, only recite but understand the knowledge. This learning result is at odds with the quality education, bad at student development on subject. What’s more, this is a limitation to people who need to acquire some geographical knowledge to come up with the society development.Researchers pay attention to junior middle school students’geography learning status and care about geography learning interest on junior middle school. Most of them think the key to cultivate interest is improving teacher’s teaching skills, especially teaching method, teaching process and teaching contents. From teaching practice, we find that teacher’s personality charm, parents and student play a more vital role in it. Thus, it is necessary to know the fact about student’s geography learning interest on current teaching practice, find out affecting factors, and give some strategy.By way of questionnaire investigation, interview method and observation method, we make some researches about junior middle school students learning interest current situation. Through the research, we find that:(1) Interest of junior middle school student in geography subject stays at a high level (93%), and they hold the right attitude to treat geography. But the proportion of learning geography for interest stays low (45%), and most of the girls in junior middle school are affected by the exam-oriented education in learning geography. (2) Affecting by gender, grade, teaching time and social role, we conclude that factors are teacher, student and parents. (3) Strategies on improving students’learning interest on geography study:①adding home geography knowledge and making geography knowledge meaningful.② improving teacher’s teaching skills, especially on knowledge accumulation and application.There are two innovations of this paper:I Comparative and analytic research:comparing the difference from gender, age and teaching time are good at different teaching and the improvement on teacher’s perceiving.Ⅱ Multi-angle of view research:on the one hand we find the difference from research target inside; on the other hand we use three angles to invest geography teacher, junior middle students and their parents in order to know the current situation of junior middle school student’s interest on geography learning. After comprehensive analyzing, we find out some affecting factors. Last, we give some strategies on how to improve students’interest in geography learning.
