Interest is the best teacher for students. In teaching, teachers should catch students' eyes and make them pay attention. If students have strong interest, every geography class will be full of attraction. In this way, geography class will become the most expected class for students. In order to stimulate interest in learning, many teachers ignore the homework process.Homework is an effective way for students to feedback what they have learned and a necessary process for teachers to communicate with students. The open homework has a variety of styles, there is no uniform standard answer, has a variety of evaluation methods and other characteristics. The completion of open assignments can not only review the knowledge learned, but also exercise students' ability and arouse students' emotions. On the premise of studying and sorting out a lot of relevant materials, this paper finds out the factors affecting students' lack of learning motivation through questionnaire.Based on relevant theories, this paper puts forward the design strategies of open assignment from two aspects of design requirements and design principles, and gives corresponding design cases. In order to test the effectiveness of open assignments, thirteen and fourteen classes were selected to conduct comparative experiments in the research process. Conclusions were drawn in the following forms:First, through the questionnaire survey of eighth grade students and first-line geography teachers,we can understand students' learning interest, learning attitude and motivation,as well as their attitude and preference towards homework. It is found that the overall motivation of students is not enough, and they prefer open assignments which are closely related to their daily life.Second, the open homework should meet the design requirements of four aspects:conforming to the characteristics of the subject, conforming to the characteristics of the actual development of students, moderate difficulty, and closely connected with the teaching content. At the same time, the design of geographic open assignment should follow the five principles of difference, life, interest, diversity and creativity.Thirdly, the implementation strategy of open assignment in junior middle school geography includes the strategy of correcting students'thoughts, optimizing assignment design strategy, flexibility strategy of arrangement, emphasis on sorting and analysis strategy. In this study, geographical open assignments are divided into four types:data investigation, exploration experience,hands-on operation and geographical games.Fourthly, the effect comparison of open assignments:for open assignments such as data investigation, students' participation and completion degree are closely related to the selection of assignments;Open assignments of exploration and experience are the most submitted by students.Open homework of hands-on operation, students spend more time to finish the task, but the homework is of high quality.Open assignments of geography games have the highest participation of students.Students are in high spirits during the completion of assignments, and the results of assignments are also very good.Fifthly, the implementation of open homework is conducive to arousing students' interest in study, promoting the improvement of geography scores and enhancing the relationship between teachers and students. It is beneficial to improve teachers' professional ability and education and teaching level by studying geography open assignment in depth.
