A Study On The Social Workers' Intervention In The Family Relationship Of Remarriage

Nowdays,with the increasing percent of deuterogamies in society,the issue of parent-child relationship in stepfamilies has been becoming a significant social concern. The reason that caused this issue might be various, while the result of this issue is so clear:not only about disturbing normal life of a harmonious family, but also having negative effects on the growth of the children, no matter psychologically or physically. Considering the specificity of stepfamilies, a common and traditional way to resolve parent-child conflicts is to mediate with family authority, which deep rooted in parents’ serious sense of family responsibility. However, the stressful method is not a smooth resolution, sometimes even making things worse. Social work targets to helping people according to their indeed needs and releasing their capability to do self-help. The proficiency of social work will accordingly cover the shorts of traditional methods in regarding parent-child relationship, offering better perspectives and ideas along with more effective solutions.Stepfamilies are becoming much more common as a family structure, and it is supposed not to be "tagged" or even discriminated. The parent-child relationship in stepfamilies should consequently be equal resolved. Therefore,this article choose Y city in Shanxi province as an case to probe into the parent-child relationship in stepfamilies by using proficiency of social work.In this way we can improving parent-child relationship, reconstructing normal family life, and developing harmonious structure of stepfamilies should be the responsibilities of social workers in the progress of harmonious society.The essay has six parts:The first part is introduction. This part introduces the background and meanings of the whole research and then gives out a literature review on current research process in domestics and overseas. Then this part defines related concepts and figures out the theoretical framework of the research. The end of this part describes creative points of this essay and analyzes possible shortcomes.The second part uses Y city as research sample to analyze the parent-child relationship issue in stepfamilies, and categorizes three relationship modes: Aggressiveness, Indulgence, and Foster care by generation skipping.The third part discusses the causes of parent-child relationship issue in stepfamilies, analyzing from three perspectives:the vulnerability of parent-child relationship in stepfamilies, the lack of correct guide and family integration, the effect of foster care by generation skipping.The forth part is an analysis about the probability that social work gets involvements into parent-child relationship in stepfamilies, discussing from professional value, proficient skills, and possible methods of social work.The fifth part is about practical attempts of social work getting involvements into parent-child relationship, and different methods have been organized and tried:separate psychological counseling for parents and children in stepfamilies, specific case study of family care, and the fraternities separately for stepmother and children in stepfamilies.The sixth part summarizes the conclusion from practical attempts, and offering possible reference for social workers in case of further involvements into parent-child relationship in stepfamilies.
