The cultivation of ability subject is the core of teaching middle school history education. With the deepening of Chinese curriculum reform on the cultivation of the ability of the history subject. the study of history teaching in middle schools has been paying more and more attention.Ever since 30 years of reforming and opening up about the ability of history subject has achieved substantial results. How to stimulate and promote the development of students’ ability of the history subject in middle school history education is an important problem in theoretical research and teaching practice which must be solved in middle school. This paper puts forward the concepts of the ability of the history subject and middle school history teaching on the basis of the former researches. Which is quality of combination of psychological possibility on the adoption and completion to the learning of history subject and learning activity. It is the condition of mastering and applying the knowledge and technique. It is the specific psychological characteristics of completing history subject learning. Based on the comparative study of Chinese “the ordinary high school history curriculum standards” and British national history curriculum standards, It puts forward some basic requirement and principals of ability cultivation of students in history subject. It based on the study of history teaching practice in Changning Yunnan province and found that some success and insufficiency in the current high school history teaching activities on the ability cultivation of history subject. Meanwhile, the corresponding countermeasures are put forward.Main success: 1. In the educational and teaching activities, the teachers pay more attention to developing the students’ interest of history subject. 2. The teachers pay attention to the integration of old and new text books. 3.the inquiry in history teaching activities are gradually carried out. 4. Test’s in the aspect of developing students’ ability of the history subject special effect is showed step by step. 5.advantage of inquiry activity class in the ability of the history subject gradually get to play.Disadvantages:1. Lack of systematic training to raise the ability of the history subject. 2. Lack of scientific and effective teaching evaluation system.3.the activity exploratory curriculum is not perfect.4.the teachers’ occupation burnout affect students’ ability cultivation of the history subject. 5.prevent teachers from training the ability of the history subject.6.the theory about developing the ability of students’ history subject is not perfect.Research proposals and Countermeasures:1. It is lack of ability cultivation on history subject of theoretical research.2.The scientific and effective evaluation system should be established.3. To establish curriculum system with complete inquiry.4.To strengthen the moral construction of teachers and change their ideas and work style.5.To strengthen the communication with the students and change bad learning habits of students.6.Ability cultivation on history subject of theoretical studies in the middle school should be strengthened.
