Research Purpose:Students’ physical health has been regarded as a very significant part in promoting Chinese population quality. According to the national physique monitoring in recent year years, the physical health of middle students has been improved a lot, but their cardio-pulmonary function and aerobic endurance are still not engendering optimism, and even worse than before. The reasons for this situation are mainly because the training methods are monotonous and the exercise intensity is too large. Therefore, to find an effective and practical mode of exercise, which is both in accordance with middle students’ physical and mental development characteristics and their current health condition, is particularly important. Orienteering, as a sport which syncretizes the intelligence, leisure and physical strength, is becoming increasingly popular with students. So this thesis is mainly focused on how to use orienteering as a major method to ameliorate the physical health of middle students, and further more, to reach the purpose of improving their physique in all-around by exercise prescription.This study uses literature, experiment, mathematical statistics and other methods. To collect the results of exercise prescription intervention, we chose 40 boy students whose scores are 79.9 or below in the physique test from the total 120 students of Tianjin middle school as the object of this study. Then we made a schedule about ten weeks with the orienteering as main exercise prescription to show how the intervention effects.1. According to the national student physical health standard of the 2014 revised criteria, three grade boys which the score is below 79.9 and choose 120 randomly will be selected as subjects.2. Before the experiment, we tested the subjects’ morphological index, including the stature, weight, surround degree and body composition; somatic function and quality index, including lung’s capacity, cardiac functional index, endurance, flexibility and strength; and biochemical index of hemoglobin, blood glucose, and so on.3. According to the test results for the subjects which is given priority to with directional movement prescription, determining the exercise intensity, exercise time, frequency and interval of time4. The test for comprehensive evaluation index of students’ physique contains: BMI, lung’s capacity, 50 meter-running, sit and reach, standing jump, pull-up(boy)/ sit-up in one minute(girl), 1000meter-running(boy)/ 800meter-running(girl). According to the evaluation standards prescribed by State Students Health Standards(revised edition 2014), the test results were divided into four grades: excellent, good, pass and fail.5. Choosing 40 boy students whose scores are 79.9 or below in the test to do the ten-week exercise prescription intervention.Collecting and systemizing the testing data. And making the correlation analysis with the results. Research results:When we use orienteering as the main mode of exercise to do the prescription intervention on middle students, three times a week—Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 50 minutes each time, with the heart rate kept around 50%-80% of the heart rate reserve, that is(110 一 150b/min), we found that after a ten-week intervention, their physical constitution status changed as following:1. After ten weeks intervention, students from Grade one and Grade two obviously have a larger lung’s capacity than before, increasing to 320.02 ml、383.32 ml, 163.11 ml. However, the control group who received no exercise intervention didn’t have any difference.2. The result of endurance test for students from Grade one and Grade two also showed a great difference from before. The performance of 1000 meter-running became better, with the time reduced by 47.4 seconds and 38.3 seconds, respectively.3. The content of skeletal muscle in students’ body from Grade two and Grade three has a very significant difference before and after the experiment, as well as the Grade one students’.4. The change of students’ blood pressure didn’t make much difference before and after the experiment. Research conclusions:1. The exercise prescription with orienteering as main content conforms with the middle school students’ hobbies and interests. Besides, the orienteering can have various organizational forms with a relatively lower requirement of athletic field and equipment, and easy to inspire the students’ enthusiasm of sport.2. The ten-week exercise prescription intervention, which use the orienteering as main method, has an obvious improvement on middle students’ endurance and lung’s capacity, and also promotes their leg strength and muscle content. To some extent, we can conclude that the exercise prescription has a contribution to perfect the middle students’ body morphology and mental health development.3. This experiment results can provide a new choice of enhancing the level of health for high school students in sport means and methods.
