Metacognition is the theoretical basis for students to learn how to learn, it can enable students independent, autonomous and effective learning, that is to learn "how to learn".In this information age,science and technology is rapidly developing.Metacognitive ability will affect the person’s life.Today’s education theme is teaching students how to learn and teaching for transfer.It is important for teachers to know and cultivate the students’ metacognitive ability.The research uses some methods,such as literature research, questionnaire method,interview method, observation method and so on.In this paper, we summed up the level of the junior high school students’ metacognitive ability.The researcher explores the relationship of the students’ gender, grades, learning attitude, grade and metacognitive ability.The metacognition ability in information technology of junior middle school students is divided into three aspects: metacognitive knowledge, metacognitive experience, metacognitive monitoring.Junior high school students’ information technology achievements related to their metacognitive ability.Overall, the junior middle school students’ metacognitive ability is in the medium level,the metacognitive experience of students is relatively good,and the metacognitive monitoring of students is poor.This is decided by the middle school students’ age characteristics and teachers’ teaching effect. Through the investigation, the author has found other results:Significant difference exists among different gender students’ metacognitive ability; The metacognitive ability of students who have initiative learning attitude is good; Eighth grade students’ metacognitive ability is higher than the seventh grade students’.Finally,the author puts forward some suggestions to students and teachers after thinking.These suggestions related to the results of the survey.The teachers should learn more metacognitive theory. The teachers should achieve the timely and effective feedback, and guide students to summarize the different learning strategies, make students understand themselves and the characteristics of the learning tasks, so as to effectively improve the students’ metacognitive ability and improve the students’ information technology achievements. Students should learn to reflect and communicate with others, which helps to improve students’ metacognitive ability.The result of this research reflects the junior middle school students’ metacognitive ability.It also has the meaning to the junior middle school information technology curriculum.And it can provides reference for information technology education.
