Observation is a window to understand the world, and it is the basic way to get perceptual knowledge. As students, observation ability is the basic capability for them to do well in each subject. The new curriculum reform in junior high school courses standard all explicitly proposed the requirement to cultivate students’ ability of observation. Therefore, in junior middle school, it is of great significance to lay emphasis on cultivating students’ ability of observation.With the implementation of quality-oriented education and the promotion of the history curriculum reform, history teaching in junior middle school has been attached great importance to improve students’ all-round abilities. In this paper, I approached to use the junior middle school history teaching observation ability culture as orientation, and then roundly discussing the related theory and significance of the junior high school history teaching. Further more, via questionnaire, I get knowledge of the current teaching situation of students’ observation ability in junior high school, thus to analyze the existing problems and reasons. Therefore, put forward the strategy of history observation ability training.This essay, talking The H Middle School in Yangzhou City as a case study, questionnaire research, case interview, classroom observation will be taken in investigation. Through the investigation, I found that most students have great interesting in history observation, but the observation ability level is not so satisfactory; teachers paid more attention to students’ observation ability training and have made certain achievements, but these are still insufficient. For example, neglecting the foster of students’ history learning motivation and enduring interest; teaching content of observation ability and instructional mode are simplify; valuing results and neglecting observation method guidance; the training of students’ability are examination oriented, without internalized improving. Based on field investigation, relevant theoretical research and analysis, I factor out that the main reasons of these problems are linked with junior high school students themselves, the history teachers’literacy, school history academic evaluation method and extracurricular education.Under the background of the new curriculum reform, to complete the task of history observation ability teaching in junior high school, we should:firstly, follow the laws of the observation ability principle; secondly, grasp the key of the observation ability training, some factors which can influence the formation of the junior middle school students’ observation ability, for example, interests, purposes.methods and quality; thirdly, the methods and ways for history teachers to cultivating students" observation ability, fourthly, with the angle of improving the junior middle school history evaluation mechanism, enhancing the junior middle school history teachers’qualities, constructing better junior high school history classroom environment and some other aspects to guarantee the development of the observation ability.
