Observation is an important constituent element of the intelligence, it constituting the five basic capabilities of the students with memory, thinking, imagination, creativity together. The observation activity is a basic approach for students to gain perceptual knowledge, and it is the exploring process for finding problems, analyzing problems and solving problem. The observation beginning with problem is good at stimulating the students’ learning interest. Observation is an important method of scientific research, the source of scientific research, and the the entrance of any new discoveries and new inventions. The curriculum standards have stressed the importance of observation for students in learning languages, physics, chemistry, biology, geography and other disciplines. Therefore, schools and teachers should be payed enough attention to improving the students’ ability to observe.Beginning on collecting the research about observation, the quality of the observation ability and the training about observation ability at home and abroad, I sorts out the meaning and characteristics of the observation. The quality of observation is a standard to evaluate the developed level of observation ability. Different quality of observation showed different observation ability. Therefore, basing on the quality of observation, and combining with current situation of the training about observation ability, the author builded out the evaluation index system about the observation ability. According small-scale survey, the author determined the weight coefficients of each indicator. On the basis of the evaluation index system about observation ability, I worked out and implemented the questionnaire, in order to explore the students’ observation ability and teaching status about it in junior high school. On the basis of the questionnaire analysis, I found that most students are happy to observe, but the observation ability is not satisfactory. In short, there were six problems about junior high school students’ observation ability and the teaching in it. First, the students’ knowledge about observation are poor. Second, the students’ observing activities are lack of plan and orderliness. Third, the observation process is lack of oppugn. Forth, observation activity can not be sustained. Sixth, they can’t record observation result felicitously. Last but not least, the teaching about observation is not enough. The author analyzed the reasons leading to the above problems, and trying to put forward the following countermeasures in order to improve the junior high school students’ ability to observe. Firstly, improve the interests of students to observe.Secondly, guide students the method to observe. Thirdly, improve students’ observation quality. At the last, train the observation ability in the daily teaching. Based on the general rules of the observation characteristics and capacity-building, the training should follow four basic principles. First, follow the laws of the observation. Second, respect for the characteristics of the students’ psychological development. Third, focus on student-centered inquiry process. Last but not least, the principle of gradual and orderly progress. To implement the above strategy and achieve the purpose of improving students’ observation ability, we need to do three things. First, rationalize school evaluation. Second, strengthen teachers’training to improve the quality of teachers. Third, create a harmonious classroom. This study is intended to make teachers aware of the importance of the observation ability and the shortcomings of train about junior high school students’ observe ability. Then the author put forward advices for the train and evaluation about junior high school students’ observation.
