| Through analysis of the background and the status quo of curriculum reform of higher teacher education in the USA and Russia in the 1 990s, the author tries to study the common curriculum characters and tendencies of teacher education in the two countries at the turn of the 21St century, and to give some advice on the curriculum reform of higher teacher education for our country. This thesis includes five sections: The preface demonstrates the purpose, research methods and basic thought of this paper. In the first part, the author explains the meaning of curriculum in teacher education. In the second part, the diverse, entire change of current education in Russia brings the curriculum reform in higher teacher education. Then the author analyses the curriculum characters of teacher education in Russia. In the third part, the reform tendencies of American teacher education in the 1 990s are analyzed against the background of education change & current situation of curriculum system in American teacher education. On the basis of the common tendencies in curriculum aims, management, orientation, professionalization, synthesization & perpetualization, the fourth part demonstrates a few aspects that urgently need to be improved in the curriculum reform of higher teacher education in our country: First, to establish an all-round curriculum goal system of current higher teacher education. Second, to carry out æ•he comprehensively basic curriculum?so as to foster many-sided thought & wide fields of vision of students. Third, to adjust the ratio of required courses & elective courses to make pre-service teachers suitable for quality education. Fourth, to reform the former educational courses so as to reflect the professionalization & specialization of teacher education. Fifth, to realize the elastic course management of higher teacher education. Sixth, to co-ordinate the development and enlightenment of pre-service and in-service education. |
