The study was primarily conducted on the partition of ability elements in geography subject by comparing the researches on the ability structure of math, chemistry, physics, Chinese, biography and so on, as well as the standards of geography not only within the nation but also the without. Furthermore, the system of the ability structure in geography subject was established. In the study, the traits of ability elements were analyzed in the need of subject ability training. Assessing the present status of subject ability training on the basis of the questionnaire designed by the author, the improving static of the present status of geography subject ability training was released.The study was composed of four parts:Part one: The present status of subject study in math, chemistry, physics, Chinese and biography, whose study on subject ability training was on promising progresses. The traits and demerits of partitioning the subject ability's elements were summarized and the significance of research on subject ability structure for establishing the system of subject ability structure of geography was also analyzed.Part two: The preference, difference, revelation and demerits of the partition in the respects of the ability's components in the world were concluded through comparing the demand of geography subject ability training in the standards of geography education. And the system of the ability structure in geography subject was established by summarizing the partition of geography subject ability elements.Part three: The traits of the components of geography subject ability elements were analyzed. By summarizing the questionnaire, the problems and factors in geography subject ability training were analyzed systematically. Then the improving tactics was put forward.Part four: Conclusions were received as follow. Firstly, the relationships between geography subject ability training and subject knowledge, between non-mentality factors and thinking quality should be dealt with correctly. Secondly, thinking quality should be the key factor in the subject ability training. Last but not the least, the tactics to optimize the structure of geography subject ability as a whole was advised in this part.
