High School Geography Teaching Based On Training Core Subject Abilities

Since the new Curriculum Reform of China, develop student’s ability becomes the hot research spot for experts and scholars. But develop ability is not just a slogan, which should be combined with the subjects’ teaching. By studying the previous studies on subject ability and subject ability of geography, and put into my own thinking, I defined and built the subject abilities of geography and the core subject abilities. And by observing the more traditional teaching class, find the characteristics of more traditional teaching, and if more traditional teaching can train core subject abilities of geography. Finally, I put forward the teaching principles for train core subject ability of geography, and one teaching design way, and measures for train every core abilities.This paper can be divided into five parts:Part I: by analyzing the previous researches on subject ability and the achievement of geography subject ability, find out that the studies on geography subject ability current are various and have lots of differences, but some geography core abilities are frequently proposed and widely recognized, so I think the geography ability training should focus on core subject abilities.Part II: I think the subject ability of geography including geography learning ability and the ability to solve geographic problems, and this paper’s ability refers to the ability of solving geographical situation problems, the geography subject ability is defined as: the stable psychological condition that use geographical view as the guiding, and integrated use geographic knowledge and skills, geography research methods, geographic thinking ways to solve various geographical situation problems.Part III: preliminary constructed the geography subject ability system, geography subject ability includes: the ability to raise geography issue, geographic information processing ability, map ability, geographic thinking ability, geography practice ability, geography expression and communication ability. And core ability includes: map ability, geography investigate ability, and geographic thinking ability.Part IV: through observation obtained the characteristics of traditional teaching: teaching methods are simple, do not put student in a prominent position; focus on the understanding of knowledge; training students’ abilities through exercises; negative attitude for textbook. Traditional teaching train map ability on some level, focused on get information from the map, there is a lot of spaces for developing map ability, lack of the training for the geographic thinking ability, almost never training geography investigate ability.Part V: proposed the principles of high school geography teaching based on core subjects ability training: give back the process to the students, put understanding as the basis of geography teaching, geography teaching reflect geography characteristic, and different teaching for different student. I also made a high school geography teaching design method based on core subject ability training called three processing method. Propose specific measures for each core abilities under the teaching principles based on core ability training. Which map ability training measures are: deepen and strengthen the role of maps in geography teaching and learning; and strengthening teaching basic knowledge of map; indeed training graphic capability. Training geographic thinking skills should first show student geography Phenomenon, by thinking about Phenomenon find out geography regular pattern and other knowledge, so that students become the subject of logical thinking. Develop geography thinking ability need based on map ability, and also need pay attention to other geographic model presentation aids. Training geological survey ability measures are: school and teachers should change their minds; geological survey activities should be carried out in accordance with the teaching content; fully use the local geography resources; must develop a completed and detailed survey plan.
