To satisfy the requirement of the new syllabus for English curriculum, and to change the present teaching situation, that is, low accountability of language teaching and the students' incapability to use language in real communication, the thesis, on the basis of empirical research, advocates that situational approach, which combines the merits of many popular teaching methods and therefore is situational approach in a new sense, is an effective way to improve teaching quality and students' language performance.
