As we all know, higher education has the obvious forwarning trait, particularly being along with university gradually head for the society's "center",the forwarning triat was represented more and more oustanding. As one carrier of implementing higer education, university want to be respected by the world in the intense competition, the presidents of university must have the ability of "in fair weather prepare for foul." As a son lesson of "research on the location of university and the diverse of graduate's mode of training", which is the important lesson of "the tenth five years' plan" of our national higher education science,it has being researched under this circumstances.Just as the old saying goes "All things established by preparing, discarded by unprepared." the location of university is the procession of the "preparation", this preparation is also manifested the forwarning trait of higher education, in this paper, we want to discuss theories of the location of universities, and that, discussing theories is always started from the basic concept, therefore, at first, we clarified the concept such as university, location and the location of university. After clarifying these conceptions, the article analyzes the present conditions of our universities,and points out the necessity and significance.the conclusions is as follows: at present, many universities in our country have many mistakes in location, there are three main representations: "should be" and "to be"; "high location" and "low location"; "be uneasy to it's location", because of the confused location of universities in our country, it is urgent to bring up the scientific theories of location, it is also important without question. Since university have to precede science location, well then, how to establish the system of scientific theories of location. In other words, which principles should we follow in the process of locating? Which role does it take? Which factors did restrict it? Which relations should we deal with in the procession of location? All this questions that we should explicit in the first; the third of this paper discusses these questions in order. With the last two parts, which are interrelated and become a whole organism, up to this, we havecompleted the system of theories about the location of university. In theend of this paper, we want to select a representative university--CSUas the review case. According to the above research conclusion, we think the location of CSU is feasible in a whole, but there is still many places being worthy of discussion, which should been modified.
