Research learning is a course of comprehensive practice activity stipulated in the new curriculum system of basic education. Being part of the curriculum reform, it is of great significance to the change of students' learning methods, the cultivation of their creativity, practice capability, and information accomplishment. With the curriculum reform profound and the change occuring in people's attitude towards education, the new learning activity-- research learning-- has been gradually accepted by quite a large majority of schools, teachers, and students and embodied in their teaching and learning.Although the theoretical research on research learning, as well as research papers, have mushroomed, there is inadequate research on practice level. Nevertheless, the fundemental change in learning methods requires that research learning be integrated into the teaching of subjects. As a result, the research carried out in this paper on research learning in Hongkong, Taiwan and abroad made it possible how mathmatics research learning, as a learning method and an educational idea, can be better applied to everyday teaching and learning in accordance with the situations in China. By means of research on the teaching cases in which the author took part in, the paper put forward that change in teachers' teaching idea should be the prerequisite of mathmatics research learning. And at the same time, research on a special topic is required in mathmatics teaching, with class teaching always guided by research learning. Accordingly, such goals as following can be achieved: appropriate learning methods are obtained, creativity is cultivated, and comprehensive capability is improved, so as to live up to quality education and adapt students to the information era and knowledge economy. Certainly, mathmatics research learing has limitations due to aims, periods, contents, and methods in teaching, but if it is well combined with accepting learning, its advantages will be made full use of.The paper made a reasonable generalization and extraction of the practice in mathmatics research learning in accordance with the author's practice, which provided experience for further research.
