The thesis studied the support and demand of secondary vocational education in the minority district of western China, taking Laifeng Secondary Vocational School as a swatch, which is in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous State, Hubei Province. A case study was carried along to Laifeng Secondary Vocational School, adopting a field study of the vocational education. The status of secondary vocational education in Laifeng was analyzed by the support and demand theory of education economics.The case study is made up of three parts:Part I, analysis of the demand of secondary vocational education, including social demand and individual demand. The conclusion is: in the minority district of western China, the efficient demand for secondary vocational education is in scarcity, the level of social demand is below that of economic development, individual demand becomes higher. At the same time, the study analyzes the influential factors to social demand and individual demand of secondary vocational education, and concluded that the main reason for lack of efficient demand is the confinement of economic development level, the duality construction, and the singularity of industry construction.Part II, analysis of the support of secondary vocational education,including the support for teaching personnel, major, outlay and system. The conclusion is that the support of secondary vocational education in the minority district of western China is not sufficient, and the systematic support of vocational education school is not suitable to the demand of social economic development.Part III, analysis of the contradiction between the support and demand of secondary vocational education, including the existing problem and reason, and how to solve the contradiction. The conclusion is: 1. The root of vocational education crisis is the lacking of a benign circulation of the development of secondary vocational education and economic development; 2. The basic problem that confines current vocational education is the lacking of efficient demand and high-quality support. The following eight measures were brought up to solve the contradiction between the support and demand of secondary vocational education: 1. The government should pay high attention to the development of vocational education; 2. Optimize the functional mechanism of secondary vocational education; 3. Expedite and strengthen the internal systematic reform of schools; 4. Reform the major setup of secondary vocational education to fit in with regulation of regional industry construction; 5. Propagandize the status and effect of vocational education, and set up a multiplied economical educational construction of vocational education, vocational training, and lifelongeducation; 6. Consummate the vocational education system and set up an approach for the communication between vocational education and common education and linking-up between secondary education and higher education; 7. Imply the system of credit hour and flexibility to fill various social demand; 8. bring up more major choices for students with the module teaching to intensify their competence of social adaptation.
