His thoughts about education is so rich that we can use them endlessly. Some genuine theories of his motivate our education to develop continuously. This paper aims to research for treasure thoughts for the reform and the development of modern Chinese reading teaching by studying Zhu Xi's classical education thoughts, Zhu Zi's reading methods.There are three sections in the papers: the first one is a prface which introduces Zhu Xi's biography and his educating activities briefly. Our ancient history of Chinese education is very long ,deepful, it's almost as long as the history of culture. In the history of Chinese education a lot of great education thinkers appeared, Zhu Xi in Song Dynasty is one of them. He is granted another most influenceable education thinker following Kong Zi. His education thoughts and philosophy thoughts were combined perfectly: the philosophy thoughts guide his educating activities, the education thoughts are the results of application of his philosophy thoughts. Since Zhu Xi read, taught, edited books in his whole life, so he payed much attention on the way to read, he had great experience on how to read and brought forward many incisive opinions. All of the above points are important parts of Zhu Xi'seducation thoughts. Instructing students to read and passing experience on reading are the character and the emphasis of Zhu Xi's education thoughts. Zhu Xi's opinions about education aim and object are based on the theory that eliminate people's desires to adhere to the natural truth. People should study hard and culture themselves by good education in order to be the oracles. Zhu Xi devoted himself to editing the book of 《four books explanation 》 which was as the key materials of advanced education. This book was regarded a ladder from the people to the oracles. How could people get the best effect of his culture? Zhu Xi summarized a set of methods on reading, teaching, instructing students. People called the methods "Zhu Zi's reading methods".The second section explains the contents and the theory system of Zhu Zi's reading methods. After Zhu Xi died, his followers wrote down his words about reading. Zhang Hong and Qi Xi both in Song Dynasty extracted some Zhu Xi's words and edited the book of 《Zhu Zi's reading methods》 . Cheng Duanli's book of 《Yearly calendar of Cheng Shi home education》 recorded the event. As far as now many people history of education field have studied Zhu Zi's reading methods in different ways, they both have the same and the different understanding. In general there are two kinds of views on the relationship among the six Zhu Zi's reading methods. Someregard the method of reading and thinking thoroughly as the core theory. They emphasize the reading methods and skills. The Others consider the method of keeping ambition as the core thought. They think the aim of reading is so important that they pay much more attention on culture. Zhu Xi who is as a master of Li wouldn't just teach reading methods to people, he wanted to improve the learners' morality and culture by teaching the reading methods. We can draw a conclusion that reading and thinking thoroughly, keeping ambition are not opposite, but they are joint tightly. According to Zhu Xi's words if you want to read and think thoroughly, you should keep your ambition simultaneously; keeping ambition is the aim of reading and promotes reading thoroughly. Zhu Xi's integrated reading methods are the milestones in ancient times. All the six reading methods are combined tightly in an internal logic, are a whole processes to read .In the third section I talk about how Zhu zi's reading methods enlighten modern Chinese reading teaching. Nowadays all reforms including our new reform in basic education, confront the problem how to inherit tradition.
