Junior High School Language Teaching Foreign Literature Research Report

The true essence of Chinese education is to sculpture human dignities. Chinese educationist Tao xing-zhi said, "Teach people to search the truth whatever you teach; learn to become a real man whatever you learn. " The phrase "real man" indicates saying true words, doing true things, searching for true knowledge, and a belief in truth. Different culture and social circumstances make different personalities between the east and the west. Only a balanced education mixed by Chinese traditional morality (collective) and western humanism (individual) can make the youngsters adapt to the competitive modern society. Currently, the main channel for students to learn foreign culture is the Chinese textbook . The National Education commission issued a list of "must-read" world-wide famous works for students last year. And the proportion of literature works in Chinese textbooks has increased as well. Consequently, how to use these new resources to rich students' knowledge and better their personalities becomes a new focus of education.The task of this thesis, is to analyse the superiority and inferiority of the selection of literature works in Chinese textbooks, and put forward the reform advices.
