<>,which was published in April,2003,makes a high light on Mathematicalinquiry in mathematical curriculum reform for senior middle school. This article isaimed to launch mathematical inquiry in class teaching, which is based on domesticand foreign relevant research. This research pays attention to the students' exploringby themselves, the students' attacking to practice, cooperating and communication inteaching activity, as a result, they get development after learning, which makes thelearning procedure of students into a re-creation with the guide of the teacher. Thismeans that it develops students' basic learning ability and developing learning abilityin harmony;it can educate the students' subject sense and subject participation ability;it develops the students' creative potential and educate the students' sense of creationand practical ability;it educates the students' feelings of learning mathematics. The author makes a rough trial and research in the first chapter of this thesis. Theinquiry is the basic way of mankind to know the world. The students achieve thelearning in mathematics inquiry learning by themselves, they can learn freely inlearning. The mathematics inquiry learning is opening in selecting subjects, learningway, learning space and learning approach, it also pays attention to the students'experience in learning procedure. The second chapter of this thesis introduces the basic theory on which this researchis based. The mathematics inquiry is based on the view of Learning of Constructivism,learning is not a procedure in which the learners accept the knowledge passively but aprocedure in which the learners construct their knowledge which is based on thelearners' original knowledge and experience. It emphasizes the students' learning bydoing, students are active all along in learning and practical procedure. The students'subject-activity becomes the Central activity in math teaching and learning. Rogersemphasize that the learning is rooted on the learner, and pays attention to the learningprocedure of the learner. It happens to have the same view of mathematics inquiry.Humanism learning theories pay attention to the relation between learning contentsand individual students. It emphasizes the students' learning by doing. Studentsassume the responsibility in attending learning in the learning procedure and learn toself-animadvert and self-evaluate. This provides an important theory basis formathematics inquiry to be got under way with great success. David P.Ausubel's viewof meaningful learning theory skillfully synthesizes discovery and acceptance in thelearning procedure. The learning model which combines receiving learning anddiscovering learning happens to have the same view as mathematics inquiry actually. In Chapter Three, the author brings forward the subject of mathematics inquiry. Itneeds to lead the students into problem situation to bring mathematics inquiry intoeffect on class-teaching;It needs to advance the students to research and solveproblems;It needs to accelerate the students' knowledge-transfer;It needs to guide thestudent to feed back and remedy;It needs to guide the student to clean up theirknowledge. It has an important promotion-value to launch mathematics inquiry byapplying cases in mathematics class teaching in middle schools. The questions incases come from students' learning practice and students solve problems bythemselves. It has an open environment and democratic atmosphere to applymathematics inquiry. It provides an important platform for educating students'creating spirit and creating ability. This really exemplifies the modern instructionalideas that 'the instruction must be based on the students' learning, the instructionmust be based on the students' development'.The experiment result and analysis of the subject research is the main content ofChapter Four. The experiment supposititious hypotheses of mathematics inquiry is: itnot only improves students' enthusiasm, initiative and learning interests, but alsoaccelerates students' cooperating ability, creating sense and healthy characteristics toinquiry which combines learning in class and out class under the modern instructionaland learning theories which are based on students' psychological characteristics andcognition laws. Here is the experiment result: mathematics inquiry can excitestudents' learning interest, it educates students' creating spirit, and it enhancesstudents' ability in dealing with people.The content of Chapter Five is the reflective thinking on mathematics inquiry. Thepurpose of mathematics inquiry is to change students' learning way;the learningsubject is not only from the science knowledge but also from practical living. It isimportant to critique in the open learning environment. It must pay attention to thefollowing questions in mathematics inquiry: it must be based on students' practicalabilities;it must protect students' learning conviction, it must act progressive.
