With the rapid development of science and technology, whoever has grasped the education facing the 21st century, who will be in the initiative position of strategy in the international competition in the 21st century. Based on the requirement of social development to the talents, the education departments of our country propose that we should view the initiative spirit and the practical ability of the students as the most important part of quality-oriented education. If we want to foster the initiative spirit and practical ability, we must change accepted learning style, and we must develop the explorative ability of the students as delivering the knowledge, which is called effective teaching.The effective teaching is a kind of new learning style relatively admitted and widely executed at present all over the world. It accords with the requirement for quality-oriented education, and aims at training students' initiative ability, practical ability and learning forever-self ability. The effective teaching can be combined with teaching of math as a kind of learning style , which pays more attention to the students' participation and their obtained experience , emphasizes on applying the knowledge and skills to explore "new " laws and find " new " phenomenon personally , then develop the studying habits and personal characteristics of critical thinking, inquiring and practicing ; which also put new vigor into the inquiry learning and radiant color for physics teaching and put the educational center on training students' initiative spirit and practical ability , therefore is a deep reform of the history of basic education .This paper discusses how to implement effective teaching in the teaching of high school math. The article is divided into three parts: the first part is the outline of effective teaching , which mainly deals with the generalization of the effective teaching and its definition, a brief introduction of high school effective teaching theory. It mainly illustrates the educational and psychological base of effective teaching .The second part discusses the tactics and methods of effective teaching in the teaching of high school math. The third part is a discussion of cases implementation of the effective teaching on math. The fourth part states standards and assessment of effective teaching in the teaching of high school math.
